If you are still paying PMI and have had your loan for over a year, here is what how to find out if it can be removed….


STEP 1. Determine if you qualify. Did you purchase or refinance your home with a loan of more than 80% of the total value. You must have had your loan for at least 12 months. FHA & VA loans don’t qualify. You must have good payment history with no late payments in the last year.

STEP 2. Contact your lender, call the customer service number on your last
statement, ask them to send you a PMI removal information letter. This letter will contain the specific guidelines on how to have your PMI removed, and the address to send your documentation. An appraisal will be required to prove that the loan balance is less than 80% of the current market value.

STEP 3. Call Appraisal Resource Group to determine if your value is high enough to have your PMI removed. If it is, you will need a formal written appraisal to send to your lender. If you don’t have enough value, it costs you nothing. Either way, there is no obligation or pressure.
